The eponymous Tranilamp was founded in 1963 manufacturing and marketing control panel transformer lamps. The transformer enabled low voltage filament lamps to be supplied from higher control voltages with the benefit of extended lamp life through a small under voltage.

To this day, the transformer lamp remains a major product of Tranilamp, but their range has been greatly extended to include other kinds of indicator lamps, LED clusters bulbs, pushbutton switches, rotary switches and transformers.
